Handloom exhibition begins

Mohammed Mohsin, Chairman of Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation, inaugurated a 10-day exhibition of handloom products at Kannada Sahitya Bhavan in Belgaum on Monday.

The customers haD been offered 30 per cent to 50 per cent discount on its various products, which include its traditional and newly designed silk and cotton saris, cotton towels, chudidhar set, designer silk saris, table and bed linen, nisarga bedsheets, Turkish towels, woollen blankets, and Janata saris. The exhibition will open for public from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will be on till August 15.

Discount

Mr. Mohsin said the discount offer would be available at Priyadarshini Handlooms in Tilakwadi in the city during the period of the exhibition.

He said the corporation had registered a sales turnover of Rs. 30 crore last financial year. It aims to achieve a turnover of Rs. 40 crore this year. The total turnover of the corporation from its retail sales and other outlets accounted for Rs. 150 crore during last financial year and it was looking forward to touch Rs. 200 crore mark this year.

Mr. Mohsin said the corporation had provided employment to nearly 10,000 weavers in the State.
