BIDAR: Members of the district unit of the Karnataka State Handicapped Welfare Committee staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Thursday urging Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to fulfil their demands such as filling about 17,000 vacant posts meant for persons with disabilities.

In a memorandum addressed to Mr. Yeddyurappa and submitted to the Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta, they said a person with disabilities should be nominated to the Legislative Council or be appointed chairman of a board or a corporation to raise issues concerning welfare of person with disabilities.
