A mobile app for hiring taxis

Olacabs, an aggregator of car rentals and point-to-point taxi services, announced the launch of its mobile application, Olacabs, which allows users to book a taxi easily on their smartphones.

A press release from the company claimed that this app is the first of its kind in India and among the first ones in Asia.

The app, released in Mumbai this week, will be launched in New Delhi and Bangalore in a month, the release added.

This application allows customers to book the nearest Olacab and track its movement with a one-touch interface on their smartphones.

It provides details such as the name of the taxi driver and vehicle number, distance from the user's location as well as the expected time taken to reach the location, the company claimed.

Currently available for Android phones, the iPhone and BlackBerry versions should be available in a month, the release said.
