Deputy Commissioner M.V. Vedamurthy said here that a consultative committee to monitor the functioning of McGann Hospital would be formed.

In a press release, Mr. Vedamurthy said that the committee would strive to improve the quality of service at McGann Hospital.

He would preside over the committee with the Superintendent of Police, Chief Executive Officer of zilla panchayat, Commissioner of City Municipal Council, Deputy Director of Horticulture, Director and Principal of Shimoga Institute of Medical Sciences, Assistant Executive Engineer of Public Works Department, Resident Medical Officer and Medical Superintendent of McGann Hospital, and District Information Officer as its members.

The committee would meet once a month.

Issues related to sanitation and developing cordial relationship between doctors and patients would be discussed, he said.

Even though the Government has spent a huge amount on the hospital, the service here was not up to the mark, he said.

Mr. Vedamurthy said that he has taken complaints from the public on the mismanagement of the hospital.

The committee would strive to develop a sense of professionalism among the medical and non-medical staff working at the hospital, he said.
