A girl who had allegedly been kidnapped by a youth turned up before the Police Commissioner here on Monday and confessed that she had left home with the man, with whom she was in love.
Shruti Sahadev Hirekerur said that she was in love with Santhosh Chalawadi, with whom she had run away. The Police Commissioner sent them to the Gokul Road police station for further action.
Shruti's mother, Jayalaxmi Sahadev Hirekerur, of Ramlingeshwar Nagar, had filed a complaint against Santhosh, a resident of Ramnagar, alleging that he had kidnapped her daughter on March 11.
Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner clarified that no marriage took place in his office on Monday after the couple turned up. The clarification comes in the wake of media reports claiming the couple were married in the Police Commissioner's office.
