BANGALORE: A woman, who had gone with another to search for the latter's husband, was killed after a train knocked her down near K.R. Puram Railway station on Saturday. The Railway police gave the name of the dead as Sujatha (27).
According to the Railway police, Ramachandra, husband of Yashoda (54), who was staying near the railway station, had quarrelled with his son. He left the house in the evening threatening that he would end his life. An hour after her husband left, a concerned Yashoda asked her neighbour Sujatha to go with her in the search of her husband. They were returning home when the train hit them. Sujatha was severely injured and she died while being taken to a hospital. Yashoda was admitted to a private hospital.
A man was robbed of cash and gold ornaments on C.T. Street in the Chickpet police station limits on Saturday. The police said Kumara Swamy Shetty of Bellary had come to the city to buy ornaments and clothes for his daughter's marriage. He purchased 200 grams of jewellery and kept it in a bag which also contained Rs. 1 lakh in cash. While he was entering a garment shop on C.T. Street he checked his bag and found the cash and the jewellery missing. He told the police that some one had made a hole in his bag and took away the cash and jewellery.
