Sharanamma and Sujata are president and vice-president respectively

RAICHUR: Sharanamma and Sujata of the Congress were unanimously elected president and vice-president respectively of Raichur Taluk Panchayat here on Thursday.

The post of the president was reserved for general (woman) category and that of vice-president for Backward Class(A).

Elections to select the presidents and the vice-presidents to other four taluk panchayats in the district were held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Saraswati of Janata Dal (Secular) was elected president and Rangappa of the Congress vice-president of Deodurga Taluk Panchayat. The post of the president was reserved for the Backward Class (woman) category and that of vice-president for the Scheduled Caste. H.B. Murari and Dodda Bassappa of the Congress have been elected president and vice-president respectively of Lingsugur Taluk Panchayat. The president's post was reserved for the Scheduled Caste and that of vice-president for the general category. Chandrakumar Kalas and Sharanamma of the Congress have been elected president and vice-president respectively of Manvi Taluk Panchayat.

The president's post was reserved for the general category and that of vice-president for Backward Class(B).

Rameshappa Diddigi and Bheemanna of the Congress were elected president and vice-president respectively of Sindhanur taluk. Elections for the posts of president and vice-president of Raichur Zilla Panchayat are scheduled to be held on January 25
