Militants are said to have stayed in the district before planning attack

Bidar: A team of the Hyderabad police arrived here on Monday to investigate whether a terrorist attack on the Andhra Pradesh Special Task Force, carried out during Dasara, was planned in Bidar.

Two suspected terrorists arrested in Hyderabad on Monday reportedly confessed that three militants had stayed in Bidar before planning a suicide bomb attack on the STF.

According to the police sources, Hyderabad police arrested two youths from that city - Kalim and Zaheed - immediately after the attack. Zaheed and his five brothers, who live in Gulf countries and Bangladesh, are said to have links with terrorist organisations such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Hizbul Mujahideen. Based on their reported confessions, two local youths - Shakeel and Haji - were arrested on Saturday.

The latter are said to have confessed that Zaheed's brother Shaheed trained them in making explosives. Shaheed, who is a resident of Bangladesh, had met them in Bidar. They said they were computer engineers and joined a hostel in Bidar. After the training, Shaheed returned to Bangladesh. A terrorist from Bangladesh later carried out the suicide bomb attack.

Shaheed, who reportedly worked in a computer training company in Bidar, is said to be an operative of an international terrorist ring who visit India and the Gulf countries. He is said to lure youths from impoverished families in India and Bangladesh, train them and make them carry out terrorist attacks.
