BANGALORE: Governor T.N. Chaturvedi, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, other Ministers and political leaders have greeted the people on the occasion of Ugadi.
Mr. Chaturvedi said: "On the occasion of Sri Vyayanama Samvatsara Ugadi festival, I heartily extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of the State," he said.
Mr. Kumaraswamy said Ugadi, which heralds the arrival of the Kannada New Year, symbolises the presence of both bitterness and sweetness in life. "Let us take pain and pleasure in our stride and make our lives colourful," he said.
Mr. Yediyurappa said: "The festival, which symbolises the advent of New Year, inspires us to take the joys and sorrows in our stride and march ahead."
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly N. Dharam Singh greeted the people on the occasion of New Year "Vyaya". and prayed for the peace and prosperity of the people. Janata Dal (Secular) president H.D. Deve Gowda hoped Ugadi will bring in cheer, peace and progress to the people.
Legislative Council Chairman V.R. Sudarshan, Bharatiya Janata Party General Secretary and MP H.N. Ananth Kumar, Ministers Ramachandra Gowda and D.T. Jayakumar, BJP State unit president D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president M. Mallikarjun Kharge; Janata Dal (United) State unit president B. Somashekar, and former Minister and MLA D.K. Shivakumar have greeted the people.
