BANGALORE: Burglars struck at a businessman's house in Seshadripuram police station limits on Tuesday and took away Rs. 2 lakhs in cash and gold jewellery estimated at Rs. 3 lakhs. The incident took place between 5.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. at M.M. Shah's house in Kumara Park West. The thieves had entered the house by breaking open a door on the terrace, the police said.

While Mr. Shah was in his shop in Chickpet, his wife and children had been to a relative's house to celebrate Holi. The Seshadripuram police have registered a case.

In another incident, thieves broke into Balaji's house in HIG Colony, 2nd Stage, RMV Extension, and took away furniture estimated at Rs. 50,000.

Motorcycles recovered

The J.P. Nagar police have arrested two youths on charges of vehicle theft and recovered from them four motorcycles, all estimated at Rs. 75,000. The names of the arrested were given as Ashok (19) and Manjunath (18), residents of Shamanna Garden on Mysore Road.

Handsets recovered

The Girinagar police have arrested two persons on charge of robbery and recovered from them two mobile phones estimated at Rs. 10,000.
