Day's events begin with dumb charades

Main event for Saturday is Euphoria performanceEntertainment Quiz among other events

SURATKAL: The day's events at Indian Oil Incident 2006 started with dumb charades with participation from local and outstation contenders. This was followed by Hindi poetry, Kannada extempore and literary competitions in English, Kannada and Hindi. The Hindu is the media sponsor of the event.

For those looking forward to some relaxation, there was a film festival which saw the screening of movies such as Madagascar, No Man's Land and Independence Day.

The much-awaited India Quiz saw NITK grab top honours with RVCE Bangalore coming second.

There was a workshop on table manners and etiquette conducted by the Moti Mahal group, which attracted a record number of participants. The popular general variety event was the only stage event. This kept the audience captivated.

The NITK beach was witness to fun and frolic with several beach events, including beach football and the popular "beach informalz", being conducted there. A eastern musical event was held in the evening with participation from Bangalore and local colleges, including RVCE, BMS, MIT and PESIT.

The major events lined up for Saturday are the Biz-Tech Quiz, Mock Press, Entertainment Quiz, Mad Ads and a western musical extravaganza. The main event is the stage performance by the popular Indi-pop band, Euphoria, at the Student's Activity Centre.
