Raichur: Heavy rain followed by thundershowers that lashed some parts of Raichur and Koppal districts on Sunday claimed two lives and left three persons with minor injuries. A few head of cattle also died in the rain.

According to reports, Shivappa Rathod, a six-year-old boy, was killed on the spot when he was struck by lightening while grazing cattle in Gonwatla Tanda in Lingsugur taluk.

Shivappa (40), Gopibai (35) and Sukkubai ((8), who were working in a field, were injured.

They have been admitted to the Government hospital in Lingsugur town.

Two head of cattle died in Gorebal Tanda in Lingsugur taluk.

Kanakappa (26) died on the spot when he was struck by lightening while standing under a tree near his house in Chennappanahalli in Yelburga taluk of Koppal district.

Sheep killed

Twelve sheep also died after lightening struck them at Adavibhavi Camp in Karatagi town in Gangavati taluk in Koppal district, it is learnt.

There have been reports of rain damaging paddy crop grown in some villages in Gangavati and Karatagi in Koppal district and Sindhanur and Raichur taluks in Raichur districts.

Huts gutted

Four huts were gutted when fire broke out during heavy rain at Nilogal Camp in Manvi taluk. The damage is yet to be estimated by the officials.
