Bangalore: The 68th Sri Ramanavami Music Festival conducted by the Sri Ramaseva Mandali Trust this year will honour violin maestro Lalgudi Jayaraman with the S.V. Narayanaswamy Rao Award, institute in memory of the mandali's founder. The award presentation ceremony will be held at the Fort High School grounds on May 12.

Born in 1930 in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, he was brought up in an atmosphere of music by his versatile father V.R. Gopala Iyer and has mastered the nuances of classical music. He started his career at the age of 12 as an accompanying violinist.
