BANGALORE: The Rotary Club of Bangalore on Monday presented the Citizen Extraordinaire and Corporate Citizen awards to theatre personality Arundathi Nag and TVS Electronics.
Lokayukta N. Venkatachala conferred the awards on Ms. Nag and TVS Electronics represented by its director, Raghu. Accepting the award, Ms. Nag said she was very of proud of being recognised by Rotary Club.
Recalling contributions by all sections of society in realising her dream of building Ranga Shankara, Ms. Nag dedicated the award to the well wishers of Ranga Shankara.
Mr. Raghu dwelt on the social responsibility of corporate houses and said the TVS group was always in the forefront in discharging its social responsibility.
While there were companies such as TVS and Johnson & Johnson, which accorded priority to social responsibility, there were others like Union Carbide, which abdicated their responsibility, he added.
Justice Venkatachala, in his address, lauded the Rotary movement for its selfless service to humanity. Rotary Bangalore president G.V. Radhakrishnan and other office-bearers were present.
