It is some solace for Gulbarga district which stands 29th in the State

GULBARGA: Some private schools have performed exceptionally well in the SSLC examination held in March 2006 bringing some respite to the educationally backward Gulbarga district which stands 29th in the State.

Premier educational institutions such as the Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School, run by the Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangh, Farhaan High School, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial High School, SRN Mehta School, Tiny Pearls High School, KGP High School and Mother Teresa English Medium School have come out with stellar performances in this year's SSLC examination as in the past restoring some hope for the future.

While SRN Mehta School recorded 100 per cent passes, the Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School registered 95.4 per cent passes. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial High School scored 95.3 per cent passes, while KGP High School, Tiny Pearls and Mother Teresa English Medium School recorded pass percentage of 84, 81 and 75, respectively.

Of the nine students who appeared for the examination from SRN Mehta School, two secured distinction and four first class. The performance of the students from the Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School was stupendous.

Of the 242 students who appeared for the examination from this school, 230 have passed. Of them, 191 have secured first class. Only eight students have secured pass class and 31 second class.

Komal Mankar of the Sharanabasaveshwar Residential Public School won the top honours with an aggregate of 96.48 per cent, followed by C.Y. Kiran with95.36 per cent and Rahul Harwal 94.56 per cent.

Four students secured 100 per cent marks in mathematics and one scored 100 per cent marks in general science.

President of the Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangh and Principal of the School N.S. Devarkal congratulated the students for bringing laurels to the school and the district.

Of the 64 students who appeared for the examination from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial High School, 61 passed with two students getting distinction and 37 securing first class. In the KGP High School, of the 19 students who took the examination, 16 have passed with nine of them securing first class.

According to the details available here, of the 13,339 boys and 10,635 girls who appeared for the examination in Gulbarga Education District, 7,158 boys and 6,270 girls have been successful. In Yadgir, of the 4,984 boys and 3,336 girls taking the examination, 2,332 boys and 1,753 girls have passed.

In Bidar district, of the 11,693 boys and 9,622 girls who appeared for the examination, 6,656 boys and 5,804 girls have passed.
