Bangalore: The Regional Institute of English has prepared a book titled "English for Engineers" to enhance the English language skills of students in engineering colleges and make them professionally competent. According to M.D. Gayathri Devi Dutt, director of the institute, the book aims at fulfilling a long-felt need; an English language course book in the interactive mode for use in engineering colleges and other professional institutions.

The book published by Foundation Books, a unit of the Cambridge House of New Delhi, emphasises on four skills, which include listening, speaking, writing and reading.

"The focus is on accuracy and appropriate usage of the language besides developing the cognitive abilities of the learner," she said.
