Already 500 letters have been sent to Prime Minister and Sonia Gandhi

Bangalore: Samajawadi Adyayana Kendra has started a signature campaign on the need for providing reservation for other backward classes in education and employment.

Girish Kasaravalli, G.K. Govinda Rao, A.N. Yellappa Reddy and other members of the kendra said 500 letters had already been sent to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

The kendra demanded implementation of reservations for OBCs in education and employment as per the recommendations of the Mandal Commission.

Quota in private sector

It also sought implementation of reservation in jobs in the private sector, passing a comprehensive legislation to neutralise the effects of the Supreme Court judgment on admissions, fee structure, reservation and NRI quota and to implement a socially progressive programme on education. The centre urged the Union Government not to be weak-kneed in the implementing reservation.
