BANGALORE: A 10-year-old girl, who tried to stop her parents from quarrelling, was allegedly killed by her father in Bannerghatta police station limits on Tuesday night.

The police said Nagaraj and his wife Savithramma, vagabonds, were living in a makeshift hut near a poultry farm in Jigani Industrial Area.

Around 9 p.m. when the alcoholic couple was quarrelling, their daughter Lakshmi (10) intervened.An inebriated Nagaraj slapped Lakshmi and hit her on the head with a brick, killing her instantly, the police said.

Temple burgled

Burglars struck at Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple on Devasandra Main Road on Tuesday and made away with valuables and cash from the offertory.

The police said the thieves, who had entered the temple after cutting the window grills, took away ornaments adorning the deity and silver puja articles.

On a complaint by temple trust secretary D.C. Thimme Gowda, K.R. Puram police have registered a case.

Houses burgled

Thieves broke into two houses in 6th Block, Koramangala, on Tuesday and took away gold ornaments and electronic gadgets, estimated at Rs. 40,000. The police said the thieves had entered the houses of Digvijay Singh on 70th Main, and Bhandari on 73rd Main, by breaking open the main doors.

The two crimes were committed between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. when Mr. Singh and Mr. Bhandari had been to work.

Chain snatched

A youth snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 60,000 from an elderly woman in Mahalakshmi Layout police station limits on Tuesday. The police said that around 5.30 p.m., the youth snatched the chain from Channamma (74) while she was walking along with her relative Akkayyamma near Shani Mahatma Temple on 4th Cross, Mahalakshmi Layout.
