A major part of the 22-km-long outer ring road on the outskirts of the city is in bad shape.

Of the 22 km, the 8-km stretch from Ram Mandir Cross to Aland Road Naka, which is maintained by Karnataka Road Development Corporation Ltd. (KRDCL), is in good condition.

It is the remaining 14 km that is maintained by the Gulbarga City Corporation and the Public Works Department (PWD) that is in poor condition owing to lack of maintenance.

Officials in KRDCL told The Hindu here on Friday that the 14-km stretch been handed over to the PWD and the city corporation authorities some time back and it was their responsibility to maintain the road.

All heavy vehicles and mofussil buses are diverted via the ring road and no lorries or buses, except for city buses, are allowed inside Gulbarga city. to decongest traffic in the city.
