MANGALORE: It is believed that the eyes are the windows to our souls.
The paintings of Pradeep Das of Bhubaneshwar take wings from this belief. Mr. Das is one of the eight artists whose paintings are being exhibited in the city’s Akhter’s Art Gallery.
Mr. Das’s works speak of the pre-occupation of the mind and its reflection in our eyes.
Shalini Soni of Rajasthan delves on the subject of history while the canvas of Keshav Varnoti of Rajasthan turns into a chessboard. Here, the king and queen are being dominated by the horse, a symbol of strength. In the 72 squares on the chessboard, 36 of them hold paintings of life of various civilisations. Jaskanwal and Yathee Kasargod’s paintings bring out images of life and its inevitable struggles.
The exhibition is open till Friday.
