Bangalore: Shakti, the Artillery Combat Command and Control System, developed by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) in association with DRDO, was dedicated to the Indian Army on Friday. Ashwani Kumar Datt, Chairman and Managing Director, BEL, and Lt. General P. C. Katoch, Director, General Information System, formally handed over the system to General Deepak Kapoor, Chief of Army Staff, at a ceremony in New Delhi. The induction of Shakti would enable the “integration and automation” of artillery operations in the Indian Army. The “advanced software” and the GIS and GPS capability would enable faster and more accurate deployment.
