BANGALORE: Veterans in Carnatic and Hindustani musicwill perform at Sangeeth Sangam, a festival of music, to be held here from Tuseday.
Jointly organised by Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, and Academy of Music, Bangalore, the festival, to be held at Chowdiah Memorial Hall in Vyalikaval till June 13, will feature artistes from north and south India.
The inaugural day’s programme will feature Nagaswaram by Thiruvizha Jayashankar from Kottayam, Kerala; Hindustani vocal by Arati Ankalikar, Pune; followed by a violin recital by Ganesh and Kumresh, from Chennai and Bangalore.
On June 10 is a pakhawaj recital by Totaram Sharma, Vrindavan; Hindustani vocal by Kaivalya Kumar Gurav, Dharwad; and a flute recital by Sikkil Mala Chandrasekhar, from Chennai. On June 11, there is a Carnatic vocal by D. Seshachary and D. Raghavachary from Hyderabad; sitar performance by Birendra Nath Mishra from Varanasi; followed by a sarangi and violin duet by Kamal Sabri, Delhi, and M.S. Narmada from Chennai. On June 12 is a panchaveena programme by Suma Sudhindra and group, Bangalore, followed by Carnatic vocal by Seetha Narayanan from Chennai. The days’s last programme is a sarod recital by Tejendra Narayan Majumdar from Kolkata.
On the fifth and final day — on June 13 — the programme will commence with a dhrupad vocal by Falguni Mitra from Kolkata. This will be followed by Hindustani vocal by Shruti Sadolikar from Lucknow.
