HUBLI: Protests over fertilizer scarcity continued in Haveri on Monday with farmers blocking the National Highway that passes through the city for a few minutes.

As much as 3,000 tonnes of urea reached the district on Sunday and the consignment was immediately despatched to all taluks in the district. Haveri taluk also received an allocation of 650 tonnes of urea, but the fertilizer got distributed within no time.

On Monday, there was no fresh consignment and the farmers resorted to a rasta roko.

The officials of the Agriculture Department then distributed them tokens saying that those having tokens would be given urea on priority on Thursday.
