BANGALORE: Rich tribute was paid to the former Minister Nagappa Alva at a function organised to observe his birth centenary here on Wednesday.
Minister for Medical Education Ramachandra Gowda, who read out the speech of Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, who could not attend the function, said that Nagappa Alva was among those rare persons who lived in the hearts and minds of people even after their death.
Speaking about the late Minister’s life and achievements, Mr. Gowda said that Nagappa Alva was a great patriot.
The Minister recalled the services of Nagappa Alva as a doctor and as a social worker.
The Secretary, Kannada and Culture, B.R. Jayaramaraje Urs, welcomed the gathering.
Dharmadhikari of Srikshetra Dharamsthala D. Veerendra Hegde presided over the function.
The Department of Kannada and Culture organised an exhibition of photographs that highlighted the career and achievements of Nagappa Alva.
