Talking to presspersons here on Sunday, Superintendent of Police Hemant Nimbalkar said the police acted on a tip off made to the police inspector of Athani Maheteshwar about the smuggling of ‘hashish’ and ‘brown sugar’ from Belgaum to Goa. They rushed a team headed by Additional Superintendent of Police S.K. Hegde on Sunday morning and it intercepted one Dharni G. and Anuradha Chandra, along with the contraband, at Belgaum railway station at around 9.30 a.m. Dharni had just received Anuradha, who had alighted from the Dadar-Yeshwantpur Express, when the police arrested them.
