MYSORE: The eighth convocation of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) will be held in Mysore on February 8. The university will announce the exact venue and time in due course.

According to KSOU, admission to the convocation is open to candidates who have passed the postgraduate degree examinations conducted by the university between November 2006 and August 2007; the candidates who have passed the undergraduate examinations, held by the university during November/December 2006 and May/June 2007 (B. Ed. examinations during November/December 2006 and December/January 2007); all rank holders, winners of medals and cash prizes of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree examinations held between November 2006 and August 2007.

It said in a notification that the candidates may obtain their degrees either in person or in-absentia by applying in the prescribed form. The forms may be obtained from the KSOU regional centres and study centres or from the office of the Registrar (Evaluation), KSOU, Mysore, during office hours. Candidates who need the convocation application forms by post can send a self-addressed stamped (Rs. 10) envelope (28 cm x 12 cm) to the Registrar (Evaluation), KSOU, Mysore-6. Application forms can also be downloaded from the KSOU website www.ksoumysore.com

Certificates to the candidates who apply for getting degrees in-absentia will be sent directly by registered post after the convocation, the university said here.

The fee for obtaining degree certificates is: in person (for postgraduates and medallists, prize winners and rank holders) Rs. 500; in-absentia for BA/B Com, MA/M Com, B. Ed. and other degree holders Rs. 600; in person M Phil and Ph D Rs. 800 and in absentia M Phil and Ph D Rs. 1,000.

According to KSOU, applications, duly filled-in, with photostat copies of all the years’ marks cards (not consolidated marks card) and two recent stamp size colour photographs of the applicant should reach the Registrar (Evaluation), KSOU, Manasagangotri, Mysore-6, by January 15 without fine, and January 20 with a fine of Rs. 100.
