MYSORE: Regretting the death of farmer Siddaraju, ICICI Bank officials denied any involvement of the bank in the incident.

In a release, bank officials said that the bank had sanctioned a loan of Rs. 4.97 lakh on December 13, 2006, after following the due procedure of ascertaining the profile of the customer, agricultural activities and other norms and references. The instalment repayment was due from May 15, 2007 and was not met.

The bank said it had not initiated any recovery action against the customer. It had only reminded the customer for the payment. The bank said, in no way had it influenced the customer, which could have led to the unfortunate incident.
