TIRTHAHALLI (SHIMOGA DISTRICT): Member of Shimoga Zilla Panchayat Shruti Venkatesh has said that that the State can achieve progress only when it stands united presenting a picture of perfect integration.

She was speaking after inaugurating a pictorial exhibition organised by the Department of Information on “Progress in Karnataka after its unification” at the Government Girls Pre University College here on Thursday.

She said that the rich cultural heritage of the State, which stood as the symbol of unity in diversity, served as the source of inspiration for the youth.

Pre-requisite

Krishna Jadhav, lecturer, said that emotional integration of people was a pre-requisite to achieve progress in any sphere of development.

The State might have achieved geographical integration, “but what remains to be achieved fully is emotional integration” he said.

He said that several “Naada Geete” (State anthem) were introduced to inspire the people to spearhead movements of development. But they all were restricted to the particular periods when they were introduced, he added.

Principal of the college K. Umesh presided over the function.

Block Education Officer G.N. Prakash, president of the taluk unit of the State Government Employees’ Association Heggodu Krishnamurthy, District Information Officer Devarajaih and president of the School Development Committee Gurudutt were present.
