TUMKUR: Two men from Bangalore were killed when a lorry collided with a Toyota Qualis in which they were travelling, at Kenkere point on National Highway No. 48, here on Monday.

Police said the victims hailed from Srinagar. They were returning to Bangalore after a pilgrimage to Sukshetra Dharmasthala.

The police gave the names of the two victims as Mahesh (35) and Shivaram (37). Five other men who were injured were treated in a hospital in Tumkur.

In another road accident, a jeep that belonged to a Government department knocked down Rajanna (35) in front of the Gavimath, near here, on Monday. The police said Rajanna died instantly.

T.V. Prabhakar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, visited the accident spots and attended to rescue operations.

Police have registered cases and are investigating.
