GULBARGA: The Consortium of Indian Farmers’ Association (CIFA) will organise the National Farmers’ Conference 2007, as part of its pre-budget exercise for 2008-09 in Hyderabad on December 12 and 13 to recommend to the Union Government the features to be included in the Union Budget for 2008-09.

Addressing presspersons here on Monday, president of the Karnataka Red Gram Association Basavaraj Ingin said the main agenda would be to identify issues related to agriculture development, to discuss and prepare strategies for implementation of the National Farmers’ Commission Report submitted by the M.S. Swaminathan Committee and other important issues faced by farmers in the country.

He said the conference would be inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy in the presence of Union Minister for Agriculture Sharad Pawar.

Prominent among the others who would be participating in the two-day meeting will be Akhilesh Prasad Singh, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Subodh Kant Sahay.
