He had kept his first marriage a secret

BIJAPUR: A man who had kept his first marriage a secret and was about to enter into wedlock with another woman was arrested from a marriage hall at Inchgeri village in Indi taluk on Saturday. The police have identified the arrested as Parushram Kattimani, a resident of Horthi hobli in Indi taluk, publisher of a local tabloid. The Horthi police action followed a complaint by Boramma, with whom Parushram had married two years ago at a Registar’s office. The accused later wanted to marry a woman from Nivaragi village. The marriage ritual had began in a community hall at Inchgeri, and Parushram was about to tie the nuptial knot to the bride when the police arrived. The police had a tough time pacifying the people from the bride’s side who tried to manhandle the bridegroom and his relatives after knowing the truth.

The bride’s family made him to return the money and gold he had received as dowry on the spot.

The accused was produced before Indi taluk magistrate on Saturday evening, and was remanded to judicial custody, the police said.
