BangaloreChecking traffic jams
Sir, — Vehicular traffic is restricted in Manhattan in New York, except for taxis and public transport vehicles, to prevent traffic jams and ensure free movement of pedestrians and vehicles.
It is high time such a system is put in place in Bangalore city also, of course, with improvements in the public transport system. First and foremost, all private cars should be prohibited inside the city.
BangaloreFacilities for senior citizens
Sir, — It is pitiable to find the absence of first-aid facilities in BMTC buses. While boarding a new generation bus with a high-rise foot board recently, I, a senior citizen, slipped and sustained minor injuries.
On reaching the Majestic Bus Station,
I went to the enquiry office and control room looking for a first-aid box, but the people had never even heard of such a thing. The Government should take adequate care to provide such facilities so that senior citizens are not inconvenienced.
