Bangalore: Two-year-old Lakshmi, who underwent a 27-hour surgery at a private hospital three days ago to separate her from her conjoined parasitic twin, was given oral liquid feeds here on Saturday, the first time since the surgery.

“Lakshmi spent around two hours with her mother, Poonam, and the mother and daughter had a good time together. Lakshmi responded to her mother’s touch positively,” said Sharan S. Patil, head of the medical team treating the child.

Her clinical and biochemical parameters continue to be within the normal limits, doctors said.
