BANGALORE: A man hailing from Kodagu district, who arrived from Sharjah, was arrested at Bangalore Airport on Friday on charge of possessing a stolen passport.

Sources said the arrested had been identified as Hussein (27), a native of Napoklu in Kodagu district. The accused was arrested after he landed from Air Arabia flight.

Hussein is alleged to have stolen the passport belonging to M.K. Abubaker and changed the photograph before flying out of the country six months ago. Sources said that Hussein had befriended Mr. Abubaker in Mumbai from where he was trying to reach West Asia. After a six-month stay in Sharjah, he had returned to India on Friday in the Air Arabia flight.

Constable attacked

A police constable attached to Girinagar police station was assaulted by two men who were under the influence of alcohol on Friday night.

The police said constable Chandramohan, who was on duty at Nagendra Block, tried to pacify two persons who were involved in a verbal altercation in front of a bar around 9.30 p.m.

Suicide

A middle aged man committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling at Rajarajeshwari Nagar on Thursday night.
