HASSAN: Five books titled “Prakrit Texts Series” edited by Bhagchandra Jain Bhaskar, were released at a function at the Chavundaraya Mantap in Shravanabelagola on Monday. The books were brought in a procession from Jain Math, Basadi to the mantap. They have been published by the National Institute of Prakrit Studies and Research, Shravanabelagola.

Acharyashri Vardhamana Sagarji Muni Maharaj released the “Kashaya Pahud”; Acharyashri Devnandiji Muni Maharaj released “Kashaya Pahud Churnisutra Muni”; Upadhyayashri Nijanandji Muni Maharaj, “Kundhkund Granthavali”; Jagadguru Karmayogi Swastishri Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Mahaswamiji, “Mulachar Part-1, and Nirmal Kumar Sethi, chairman, All India Digambar Jain Mahasabha, New Delhi, released “Mulachar Part - 2”.Addressing the gathering, Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji said although science and technology did provide us instant information, it was the study of philosophy that offered peace and tranquillity. He said his aim was to see that all the “Prakrit Text Series” were made available under one roof.

Now, all the books are available at Shravanabelagola. Huge amounts of money had been spent on the preservation of manuscripts, as well as translation work, he added.
