BANGALORE: The employees of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL), under the banner of Joint Forum of BSNL Associations and Unions of Executives and Non-Executives, on Thursday, staged a protest demonstration in the city in support of their various demands.

The members said the assurances given by the Minister for Communications when BSNL employees resorted to a nation-wide strike on July 11, were not fully implemented. BSNL’s share in GSM mobile connections has not improved despite repeated pleas by the employees, whereas private players have been providing millions of connections every month.

The employees said the reduction in access deficit charges and universal service obligation fund payable to BSNL over the years has threatened the financial viability of the corporation.
