BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court, in an interim order on Wednesday, continued the stay of a single judge order on the Shree Guru Datta Peetha shrine at Baba Budan Giri in Chikmagalur district. The single judge had on February 14, 2007, directed the Commissioner of Religious and Charitable Endowments to hear representations by the Datta Peetha Samvardhana Trust and others, before passing orders on the religious rituals being followed at the shrine. The judge had remitted the matters back to the Commissioner. The State and others had appealed against this order. The State has filed an interlocutory application (IA). The Trust and other respondents, including a BJP MLA, said the IA is misconceived. A Division Bench comprising Justice S.R. Bannurmath and Justice A.N. Venugopal Gowda adjourned further hearing on the appeals on the request of the Government.
