Bangalore: The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s annual award for wildlife photography, the E. Hanumantha Rao Memorial Award, has been given to C. Ramachandra Rao.
A “seasoned photo artist” is how the bhavan describes the 72-year-old Ramachandra Rao, whose career has been as diverse as it has been exciting and one that gave him the opportunity to travel to some of the most exotic locations around the world.
Having worked in government and private institutions including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and the Raman Research Institute, he was lured into wildlife photography while working in Mauritius.
Soon after, he packed his bags and headed to Tanzania and Kenya where his work won him much repute.
The award carries with it a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and a citation. The award will be presented at a function at the bhavan on Friday at 5 p.m.
