Chamarajanagar: District Health Officer (DHO) Suresh. S. Shapeti on Saturday flagged off a rally here to create awareness about prevention of heart-related diseases, as part of World Heart Day celebrations on Sunday.

Several students from JSS Mahavidhya Peetha Nursing College, Seva Bharathi College and Banjara School of Business participated in the rally under the aegis of Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Rotary Club, Chamarajanagar.

The students were holding placards with messages about reasons for heart attack.

At a function held on the occasion, vice-president of Cardiological Society of India (CSI), Mysore chapter, Guru Prasad delivered a lecture on prevention of heart-related diseases and check ups.

He said International Cardiological Society had chosen the theme “Team up for Healthy Heart” for the year 2007-08 to create awareness among people about prevention of heart-related diseases.

The CSI, Mysore chapter, is organising a health camp in Chamarajanagar on Sunday to mark World Heart Day.

Rotary Club president Suresh, president of Chamarajanagar IMA chapter Udayashankar and Rotary Governor Nagarjun were present.
