BANGALORE: Work was affected for nearly two hours at the ICICI Bank head office situated on Commiserate Road, near Mayo Hall, following a bomb scare on Monday.

The police said that around 11.30 a.m., an official of the ICICI Bank received an anonymous telephone call that a bomb had been planted at the seven-storied building housing the bank.

On being alerted by the bank officials, the Ashoknagar police, along with personnel from the Bomb Detection Squad and sniffer dogs, searched the premises.

“We conducted a thorough search of the building. No explosives were found,” Ashoknagar Inspector Lokanath Kadri told The Hindu.

As it was a Monday, there was a heavy customer turnout at the bank.

Following the bomb scare, work was suspended at the bank till the sabotage checks were completed, the police said.

On the basis of the number displayed by the caller identification device at the bank, the anonymous call was traced to an office. Investigations are on to trace the caller, the police said. In the past two years, the ICICI Bank head office has received bomb threats four times. All have turned out to be hoax, the police said.
