BANGALORE: A class I electrical contractor, who had gone missing from the city since Saturday, was found murdered in a eucalyptus grove in Magadi taluk of Ramanagara district on Monday evening.
The police said the putrefied body of Dhananjaya (27) was found in the grove near Annaiah Shastrypalya, off National Highway 48, in Kudhur police station limits. The assailants had wrapped Dhananjaya’s body in a bed sheet after stripping him down to his undergarments, the police said.
While the motive is yet to be established, the police suspect that it could be a murder for gain. Dhananjaya, a resident of HVR Layout in Kamakshipalya, was reportedly wearing jewellery worth Rs. 2 lakh when he left his house on Saturday night.
On Sunday morning, Dhananjaya’s brother Suresh lodged a complaint with the Kamakshipalya police that his elder sibling has gone missing. Dhananjaya was a native of Magadi taluk.
Three persons were killed in as many road accidents in the city since Monday. Padmavathamma (50) was killed after she came under the rear wheels of a lorry on Katriguppe Main Road around 7 a.m. on Tuesday. The Banashankari police have registered a case.
In another incident, Balan (40), a cleaner, was killed after he came under the rear wheels of a lorry while the driver was taking the vehicle in the reverse on Mysore Road around 2.30 p.m. on Monday. The Byatarayanapura traffic police, who have registered a case, said Balan was guiding the driver in taking the lorry in the reverse. Vivek Balu (42), a pedestrian, was killed in a hit-and-run case reported from Basavanagudi traffic police station limits on Monday.
The police said a two-wheeler knocked down Vivek near a milk booth on South Cross Road around 7.30 a.m.
