BANGALORE: A seven-year-old boy was injured when he was hit by a motorcycle driven by an under-aged mechanic near Memorial Street in Bharati Nagar police station limits on Sunday.

According to police, Syed Sabir, a resident of Magadi Road, had come down to Memorial Street to attend a function at his relatives’ place.

The minor boy, who works as a mechanic in a garage, had taken the motorcycle for a test drive.

The boy lost balance of the vehicle and hit Sabir who was walking down the Street. Sabir was immediately rushed to the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, the police said. Sabir is recovering.

The police have registered a case against the minor boy. A notice has been issued to the garage owner seeking explanation on allowing the boy to drive.

Suicide bid

Fearing police action, a 25-year-old man, who is said to be involved in many criminal cases, tried to commit suicide in Bharati Nagar police station limits on Sunday.

According to police, Syed Mustaf, a resident of Thimmaiah Road allegedly stole jewellery recently.

A city police team came to the area in search of another accused Asif Ali. Fearing a raid on his house Mustaf consumed poison.

The police, who came to his house later, rushed Mustaf to Bowring Hospital. Mustaf was then moved to a private hospital, where he is recovering, the police said.

In serious condition

Suhan Arora, 25, a resident of Vinayakanagar, was critically injured after the car he was driving hit three other vehicles near Command Hospital on Airport Road on Saturday. The police said Arora was driving the car towards the city in an inebriated state and lost control of the vehicle near the hospital and jumped the median.

The car then hit three other cars going towards Airport. Arora was taken to Manipal Hospital in an unconscious condition. His condition continues to be critical, the police said.

The Ulsoor Traffic police said persons travelling in the three cars received minor injuries.
