Bangalore: The case of alleged distribution of 7,000 fake title deeds of Ashraya houses in Kodagu Zilla Panchayat will be referred to the Lokayukta, Minister for Housing D.T. Jayakumar told the Legislative Council.
Replying to “Mukhyamantri” Chandru, the Minister said that following the complaints by Arun Machaiah and zilla panchayat member Manu Muthappa, the panchayat had already decided to constitute a special committee of officials concerned.
He said that it was not known whether the reasons behind the distribution of fake title deeds was for financial or political gains.
Mr. Arun Machaiah said that persons behind such dealings had invested only Rs. 10 and earned over Rs. 30, 000 on each title deed paper. A thorough investigation by the Lokayukta would help the genuine beneficiaries of the Ashraya scheme, he added.
Action against VC
Leader of the House D.H. Shankaramurthy said that there was no question of initiating action against Vice-Chancellor of the Karnataka State Women University, Bijapur Syeda Akhtar on the basis of the recommendations of the N.R. Venakatesha Murthy Commission of Inquiry appointed by the Governor.
