Bidar: The former Minister P.G.R. Sindhia here on Friday hinted at joining the Bahujan Samaj Party.

“BSP State unit president B. Gopal, general secretary Vaijanath Suryavanshi and other leaders have invited me to join their party. I am thankful to them for the invitation.

I will consult my workers and well-wishers and take a decision about my joining the party in one or two months.”

Mr. Sindhia was participating in the 133rd birth anniversary celebrations of Chatrapati Shahu Maharaj organised by the BSP.

“I have been an MLA for 25 years and a Minister for 16 years. I am not after any position in the State Government. My only ambition is to overthrow the JD(S)-BJP Government,” he said. “I am strongly in favour of Ms Mayavati becoming the Prime Minister. I am a political opponent of the BJP, the Congress and H.D. Deve Gowda. I will decide on my political future very soon,” he said. Mr. Sindhia urged the Maratha community to stop supporting the BJP. He made repeated references to the leadership qualities of Ms. Mayavati and her party. He said that some vested interests had spread wrong notions about leaders such as Shivaji and Shahu Maharaj.
