SHIMOGA: President of the Shimoga District Congress Committee R. Prasannakumar said here on Wednesday a report on damage and loss to property caused by the recent excessive rain would be submitted to president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee M. Mallikarjun Kharge, who would submit it to the Government.

Mr. Prasannakumar told presspersons that a study team led by him toured in the flood-affected parts of Sagar, Sorab, Hosnagar and Shikaripur to assess the damage caused by flash floods. He said that the team estimated that the total loss caused to the property was around Rs. 80 crore.

He said that efforts would be made to seek adequate relief from the Government.

Mr. Prasannakumar said that the Government had failed to assess the situation arising out of flash floods so far and that even the district administration had not done realistic assessment of the situation.

He said the Government had so far released only Rs. 2 crore as compensation, whereas the total loss and damage caused to the property was about Rs. 80 crore.
