Sharanabasappa Darshanapur and top officials pay surprise visit to the area

GULBARGA: In a first step towards decongesting the busy Super Market area, the district administration has decided to use the available vacant spots in the adjacent areas as parking lots.

Agriculture Marketing Minister Sharanabasappa Dharshanapur, who is the district in-charge Minister, on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to the area along with the senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner Pankajkumar Pandey, Superintendent of Police Manish Kharbikar, and Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat P.C. Jaffer to inspect vacant spots where the parking lots could be created immediately.

The Minister and other officials inspected the open area available in the Old Superintendent of Police compound besides the Super Market area, which could be used as a four-wheeler parking lot and also the vacant spot available near the divisional office of the State Bank of Hyderabad adjacent to the Super Market which could be used as a parking slot for the two-wheelers.

The two old buildings in the old Superintendent of Police office has been demolished and the Minister directed removal of the debris and levelling of the land to allow the parking of four-wheelers.

Similarly, the cleaning of the space available in the State Bank of Hyderabad office should be taken up immediately for facilitating the parking of the two-wheelers.

Deputy Commissioner Mr. Pandey told The Hindu that the decision to shift the parking slot for four-wheelers and two-wheelers would be taken in a day or two and orders would be passed banning parking of vehicles in the Super Market area.

The Minister, who held discussions with the officials of the district administration to work out plans for easing congestion in the city, said the shifting of parking lots should be completed within a couple of days.

The issue of shifting the Tahsildar office and residence from the Super Market and using the available space for parking lot was discussed at the meeting.
