Bangalore: Following the direction of the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission, the five electricity supply companies on Friday published details of their petition seeking a tariff increase.

Objections and suggestions regarding the petition have to be sent to the Receiving Officer, Office of the Secretary, Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission, 6th and 7th Floor, Mahalaxmi Chambers, M.G. Road, Bangalore 560 001, along with supporting documents and an affidavit within 30 working days from the date of publication. They should also indicate whether they want the KERC to hear them in person.

The details of the tariff petition of BESCOM are available on the website www.bescom.org. A full set of the petition can also be had for Rs. 60 from the operation and maintenance units or the corporate office of BESCOM located at K.R. Circle.

The KERC will take a decision on the petition after eliciting the views of experts as well as consumers through public hearings.

As per the Karnataka Electricity Reforms Act, the power regulator has to give its verdict on the tariff petition within 90 days of the details being published.
