It will cover 13,800 hectares of land in Gokak, Ramdurg and Saundatti taluks
The scheme is being implemented in two stages 2.20 tmcft of water to be used under `A' scheme of UKP
Koujalgi (Belgaum District): Rameshwar Lift Irrigation Scheme to irrigate 13,800 hectares of land in drought-prone areas of Gokak, Ramdurg and Saundatti taluks will be ready in January 2009.
The scheme will be completed by December 2008, Minister for Social Welfare Balachandhra Jarkiholi said here on Monday. He was here to inspect the progress achieved under the scheme. Karnataka Neeravari Nigam Limited Executive Superintending Engineer S.S. Khanagavi, Engineer Ramesh T. Jungal and Assistant Executive Engineer M.S. Udanshetty were present.
The scheme is being implemented in two stages and the work under the first stage is progressing expeditiously. The Government has spent Rs. 32 crore and work on a canal up to 7.50 km. has been completed.
He said under the first stage of the scheme, Rs.108.46 crore would be spent on pumping water from the Ghataprabha near Aralimatti village of Gokak taluk to the deliver chamber near Mannikeri village. A jack well, an intake canal, a pump house and a rising well would be constructed. Under the second stage, Rs. 109.66 crore would be spent on construction of seven distributaries to irrigate 13,800 hectares of land.
The scheme proposes to utilise 2.20 tmcft of water under `A' scheme of Upper Krishna Project. As many as 66,111 farmers of 34 villages in Gokak, Ramdurg and Saundatti taluks will be benefited. The villages are Budhi Bujurg, Davaleshwar, Hanumasagar, Kalliguddi, Koujalgi, Kulagod, Mannikeri, Raddarahtti, Timmapur, Venkatapur, Yadwad and Yarguddi in Gokak taluk. Chippalkatti, Hulkund, Kusnal, Bhagojikoppa, Bijguppi, Chikkoppa, Chippalkatti, Gudagoppa, Hirekoppa, Hosalli, Hulkund, Kasba Chandargi, Kamakoppa, Bagojikoppa, Murukatnal and Sidnal in Ramdurg taluk. Dasnal, Itnal, Mallikeri and Muglihal in Saundatti taluk.
