    BHADRAVATI: A group of youths here exhibited great courage in trapping a huge crocodile from the Bhadra till the wee hours of Wednesday.

    There have been reports of a several crocodiles thriving in the river waters as food is being thrown on the banks by some hotels located on the main road adjoining the river bank. Two persons and one buffalo have died after being attacked by crocodiles.

    Despite people's plea to eliminate the reptiles, officials of Forest Department and the municipal body have not taken any action apart from cautioning people about the presence of crocodiles in the river. Gokul, Sanjay, Govinda, Girish Mahesh and Vinay wanted to ensure that people could move about freely on the banks of the river and decided to trap the 167-kg, 6-ft long reptile by using a fishing net and some pieces of meat in a bag.

    When the crocodile emerged to take the meat, they caught hold of it and tied its jaws with a rope. The animal was handed over to the Forest Department officials who rehabilitated it to the Bhadra Reservoir.
