BANGALORE: "Can a builder violate rules without the blessings of the area MLA or corporator? Or is it done only in nexus with the area engineer?" This question raised by Naganna of Lok Paritran Party at the round table conference resulted in a heated debate between MLAs and other participants.

Mr. Naganna, who pointed out that officials alone were not to be blamed for violation of bylaws by builders, said it could happen only with the support of elected representatives of the area.

Irked by this remark, Jayanagar MLA R. Ramalinga Reddy shot back saying that elected representatives were not builders. "We can only identify such violations and bring it to the notice of the officials. It is their duty to stop such violations at the construction stage itself. Do not talk nonsense. We are not here to listen to such rubbish," he said.

Gandhinagar MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao pacified them.
